23rd December

A nice slow start to the day with a quiet breakfast and unpacking (so nice to not have to root around a suitcase - and not at all normal for travelling) :)

Nice afternoon nap and then we went to the Weihnachtsmarkt.  There was a ‘live’ navitity scene - but baby Jesus and Mary were on the floor.  A guy from the crowd jumped the little fence (Mama actually knew him) to set it right.  Jesus back in his crib, Mary back upright - minus one hand (it was a store mannequin), so that was quickly shoved under her robe :).  Then the culprits showed their hands.... the pony, donkey and two sheep came out of the other end and started munching and pulling on the straw in the nativity area..... no doubt Mary was upended and Jesus tipped out of his crib but the cittters :)

Then we hopped on board the “Heike” (a boat - I think it may have been a cutter - but I’m not good with boats at all), to have some Glühwein- and on board was Udo, which was a fantastic suprise.  Tina also joined us a little later.

Outside there was a men’s choir singing Christmas Hymnes and carrols and then we all joined hands and sang Silent Night (well I sang Silent Night - everyone else went with the original Stille Nacht - but I barely new the English version, let alone the German original!

Then Mama and I had a lovely white wine Glühwein and called it a night.
