25th First Christmas Day

We slept in this morning - it was a pretty late night last night.

Maike came over today for lunch, we had Poeckelfleisch, asparagus (the good, fat, white stuff..mmmmmm). Spuds, Rotkohl.... all good things.

This evening we watched the Helene Fischer special on TV.  She’s super loved here and I can see why - she puts on a good show and manages to get quality acts on there.  She even had “Deacon” and “Scarlett” on there from Nashville.  I hadn’t realised that the actress who plays Scarlett is Australian, but as soon as I heard her speak it was obvious, and IMDB confirmed it :)

26th Second Christmas Day

Tina (Rauert) and her mum came over for lunch today - poeckelfleisch again - feeling the spoil having it two days running.  Love it!  It was a bit difficult though, as everyone was speaking in Platt and I couldn’t even begin to keep up. They stayed for tea and cake and left a bit after 4pm and then we all got ready quickly, and went over to Bernd and Svenja’s for dinner.

Which was Raclette and fondue (with meat and brüh (okay the translator fails miserably on that, or I’m using the wrong word - it’s like buillion, I guess), which was really nice. And then Martje got out her quizz book that she received for Christmas and we had rounds of quizzes.
