Friday 19th October, 2007. Home again home again, jiggety jig

After a leisurely (we really haven’t had any other kind here, at Kronshörn) I packed my stuff together. We have a bit of running around to do today, but not much, but this way the stuff is ready to go whenever Papa’s ready to pack the car. (Which is an art-form that he should give lessons in – just like how to pack a dishwasher more full than anybody else I know) J.

The rest of the day was pretty lazy really. We went to the shops to get some bits and pieces. I bought myself a couple of things (sheep shop souvenirs), and I got Mum some nice serviettes (nice and light). Mama was looking for something nice to take back for Papa’s Mama, who’s been taking in the mail and feeding the pets (3 turtles and a rabbit) while they’ve been away.

Just before 7pm we hit the road and made really good time back to Jipp-Japp. It took us a little under 3 hours – and that was despite some wretched trucks breaking the law and blocking lanes. (okay – so this a law that I would LOVE to see introduced into Australia). Firstly, with the exception of some specifice trucks (like those with foodstuff onboard), trucks are not allow to be on the roads from 10pm Friday night, until midnight Sunday nights – to leave the Autobahns free for the weekend rush of traffic. Secondly, they are not allowed to overtake. At all. It’s fantastic (or should be if everyone obeys the law). The two worst offenders were from Portugal – well, we’ve seen their attempts at police-work, so it seems maybe that’s not the only thing they don’t worry too much about following correct procedure on. Whoops, did I say that out loud?????

We had a quick supper of wurst and potato salad with fruit tea and went to bed… bliss.
