11.8.12 - The Wedding.....

Firstly let me say.....sooooo cool.

The weather was amazing - it was low to middle 20s and bright blue skies - no clouds at all.

Vera dropped me off and only two cars in front of me was Mama and Papa :)

Naturally we flubbed and went in through the out-door, coz that's just the way we roll!

The Minister was very nice and rather cool.  He did point out that Maja and Marion had been more than welcome to marry at his church but because of some past bad history with churches (not his) - they elected not to.

His service (though not particularly short) was well done and, as it should have been, was like any other service.  He seemed to know Maja and Marion, so it was somewhat personal and his manner was both professional and respectful, while still being relaxed and friendly.

Both Marion and Maja wore simple, white, summer dresses.  I don't have a lot of photos as they had a professional taking photos and asked people not to take photos during the service so as not to get in her way. (If I understand rightly, we will get some of those photos though).

After the service we tied postcards to red, heart shaped ballons.  The post cards had a photo of Maja and Marion and their address - on the other side was a short note asking whoever found the postcard (if they felt like it) - to put a stamp on and mail it back to Maja and Marion.  We had space to write a wish for the happy couple.  We then all released the balloons.  It will be really interesting to see how many they get back!

Someone else bought a good bottle of wine in a presentation box, and we all wrote a wish for them for 10 years time - which is when they are first allowed to open the box and bottle.

There were other games (which is very normal at German weddings) and it was a great night. Nina was there with her oldest son, Jan.  She hasn't changed a bit! Mama and Papa brought me home and I got to bed at about 2.30am -totally stuffed!

Maja and Marion (Maja is the shorter of the two) with Mama in the foreground.

Mama and Papa -before it all got started....
