16th December - Oslo and travelling back to Kiel

We had the most amazing buffet breakfast in the Hotel this morning.  They really covered their bases with what was on offer - Scandinavian, Germam and English breakfast foods all on offer.... It was amazingly amazing.

We then set off to see the Nobel Peace House - where they have a display of details off all former Peace Prize winners and a installation for this years winners - the ICAN movement.  (International Campaign to Abolish Nuclear weapons).  The display shows the start of the start - first tests etc, Hiroshima and Nagasaki and the subsequent fall out etc, right through to today.  Naturally the French, English and USA won’t sign to abolish their use though - and until they do, we won’t be rid of them.  There are smaller countries with the technology, and if those three are the hold outs, it would seem they would happily get rid of the weapons if they aren’t needed.  I’d like to hear why it’s thought that nuclear weapons are an option that should still be on any table in this day and age.

It was a really interesting display but it was a bit of a walk away - and I couldn’t walk normally as my shoes are pretty slippery and the ground was icy, so it was slow going.  I didn’t stack it, which is fairly amazing... sadly Vera ended up on her arse though, being nice, getting out of the way of a guy with a baby buggy.

Boarding went smoothly.  Our cabin is a bit of a mini-arctic though - pretty much had the heating up full and still only really taking the edge off - we should have been roasting by then.

The ship was full of drunks this time though, which was completely different to the journey to Oslo... we had some really nice Tapas for dinner - but sadly ended up sandwiched between drunks, so we didn’t hang around... we went upstairs and to one of the bars and had a cocktail instead :)
