Friday 12th October, 2007 - Strike Day

We had an adventure to get here, but we are now in Leer (obviously, since I am both posting this blog and have pictures to boot)!

It was a good thing we arrived in time for the earlier train - it arrived on time - no dramas. It just meant we had a longer wait in Hamburg - but it's a good people watching place - so that was no problem. Our train (the one we were going to originally take from Bordesholm) DID arrive - but it ran late by 25 minutes - in Hamburg we had a change over time of 7 minutes -so we were quite pleased with ourselves. Since the longer streatch trains weren't affected, we know our connector to Bremen would arrive - and it did - right on time. In Bremen we knew our train was turning up, because they were really good about announcing it on the Hamburg-Bremen train. It was actually waiting there, so by the time we got off the other train, went under the platforms to our next platform (arrived on 3, left from 7) we hopped on the train, found a seat and felt very pleased with ourselves indeed. Dora seemed to enjoy the scenery too.

Tonight I will be going to the Gallimarkt with Maike - its a big street festival that's been going for 499 years (can you JUST imagine what a blow-out next year will be)!!! I will write all about that tomorrow....
